Milk/Soy free birthday cake???

Does that even exist? J is showing no signs of outgrowing his MSPI before his first birthday. One spoon of anything with milk or soy and he vomits all day. So what do I do for his smash cake? I HAVE to get a picture of him digging in icing! But can he even have icing? I already know where I'm ordering his Elmo cake, which will be for the guests, but now I need to find a recipe for a Milk/Soy free cake, hopefully with icing of some sort. I'll be searching for great and easy recipes. If you know of any let me know!!

Do you have a specialty health food store anywhere near you that may offer alternatives? I know there is a big gluten free market out there, I'd think this would be similar, but I have no idea.

Here are some websites I found on Google!

I was going to do a Google search also, but it seems Em is on the ball and already got to it.

So, I just wanted to wish you best of luck in your search. I bet there is something out there as many, many children have similar issues.

My husband has an anaphylactic dairy allergy--the kind that can kill you, so we know a lot about cooking without milk or dairy. We buy our cakes from a Kosher bakery. Jews who keep a Kosher kitchen can't eat dairy and meat in the same meal, thus there are bakeries out there that make cakes without milk! If you can't find one in your phone book, call one of the local synogogues and they'll be able to direct you to the right place. We love the cakes that come from our Kosher bakery--no one can believe that they don't have dairy! Oh, and when you go there, make sure to tell them that you want a non-dairy (AKA Pareve) cake, just to make sure they don't give you one of their dairy ones.

My son has the same thing, so my diet was restricted. I found that Angel Food cake is almost always Dairy/Soy free.

Good luck.
